Photographic Model for Original Painting: The artist used a photograph taken by photographer Juan Montell in which he captures Bobby Jones’s perfect swing in 1922. This photograph was published in numerous publications, including Montell’s own nephew, Frank Christian’s fine book; Augusta National & The Masters – A Photographic Scrapbook.
Original Painting Status: Purportedly on display at the Augusta National Golf Club. An article in the spring 1978 edition of the Augusta Magazine stated: “The original oil which has been enjoyed only by members and privileged guest…”
Authorization: Reported in the spring 1978 edition of the Augusta Magazine as stating: “… the painting has been reproduced as a full color graphic by special permission.”

1973: Commissioned by four Augusta National members to paint oil portraits.
1974: Commissioned to produce oil murals of Augusta National’s Azalea Hole. 2000 copies reproduced by dye-transfer method and distributed to Augusta National members, players, journalists, etc. in England, France, South Africa, Japan, Scotland, Canada and US.
1976: Sketches and paintings reproduced in book “Story of the Augusta National” by Clifford Roberts; published by Doubleday
1978: Commissioned to paint oil portrait of Bobby Jones in front of Augusta National for use as cover design for Augusta Magazine’s 1978 Masters Edition
1978: Commissioned to produce bronze portrait bust of Clifford Roberts for permanent display in Augusta National Trophy Room
